Constructed atop the KALA PAHAD Hill, in the heart of Hyderabad, Birla Mandir is a Landmark tourist and devotional place since 1976. A Eleven feet statue of Shri Lord Venkateswara in a structurally well built 42 feet high sanctum sanctorum ( Garbha Gudi) on a 280 ft high hill top, bless the deities from around the world.
The temple is well structured and is spread in a 13 acres plot. As we enter we find the Rajagopuram of the temple built in south Indian style of 5 step structure as we find gopuram in Tirumala. There are separate shrines built for Shiva, Ganesh, Saraswati, Hanuman, Brahma, Lakshmi, Sai Baba and a temple dedicated to Buddha in the same premises and all them are built with a Oryian ( Utkal ) style including the main shrine called Jagadananda Vimanam. Entire temple tells us the stories from Ramayana, Mahabharata with the idols of Hindu gods engraved on pure white marble from Rajasthan. The temple also have fresco painting explaining the life of Buddha.
The adjoining rocks, trees and the pleasant environment gives the devotees a feel of solace , spirituality and liveliness all at once. The soft lighting after sun down is feast to watch and are made sure nothing is over-lit. It took almost 10 years to complete the construction of temple, which justified by the top class structural and artistic excellence.
